Broken down? Do this first
Your safety matters more than the car. Work through these before you worry about the battery.
- 1
Get off the road
Coast into the left breakdown lane, a side street, a servo or a rest area if you can. The further from moving traffic, the better.
- 2
Hazard lights on
Leave them on the whole time, even in daylight. At night keep your parkers on as well if the battery still has enough charge.
- 3
Choose the safest place to wait
On a motorway, get out on the passenger side if it is safe and wait behind the barrier, well back from the car. If you cannot get clear of traffic, stay in the car with your seatbelt on.
- 4
Stopped in a live lane? Call 000 first
If the car is blocking traffic or you feel in danger, call 000. Once the car has been moved somewhere safe, we can come to you there.
- 5
Don't push the car
Pushing a car on a busy road is not worth the risk. Leave it where it is and stay clear.
- 6
Call us with your exact spot
Tell us the road, your direction of travel and the last exit or sign you passed, or drop a map pin by text. That gets us to the right side of the road first time.
Why cars die on the road
A tired battery can hide on a long drive because the alternator is doing the work. It shows up when you stop for fuel or a break and the car will not restart. That is the most common roadside battery call we get.
If the car cut out while you were driving, and the battery light came on first, the alternator is the more likely cause. A new battery will only get you a short way in that case, which is why we test before we fit anything.
Batteries only, no towing
We are battery specialists. When the battery is the fault, we fix it where the car is and you drive away. No tow, no workshop, no waiting for a booking.
If our test shows it is the alternator, starter motor or something else, we tell you on the spot so you can call a mechanic or tow company. Jump starts are only done when the battery tests healthy, and a small call-out fee applies if no battery is fitted.

Roadside battery FAQs
Can you replace a battery on the motorway?
Yes, as long as the car is stopped somewhere we can work safely, such as a wide breakdown lane, an exit ramp shoulder, a servo or a rest area. We park behind your car with our lights on and wear hi-vis. If the car is in a live lane or on a shoulder too narrow to work on, call 000 first, and we can meet you once it has been moved.
Do you tow cars?
No. We do batteries only. If a flat or failed battery is the problem, we fix it on the spot so you do not need a tow at all. If our test shows the fault is something else, such as the alternator or starter motor, we tell you straight away so you can arrange a mechanic or tow.
How much does a roadside battery replacement cost?
Batteries start from $249 fitted, with a 2+ years warranty. The price is the same at the roadside as in your driveway, day or night, and we tell you the price on the phone before we head out. There is no call-out fee when we replace the battery. A small call-out fee applies if no battery is fitted. Terms and conditions apply.
How long will I be waiting on the side of the road?
It depends on where you have stopped. Inner Brisbane is usually 15 to 25 minutes, most of Logan and the Gold Coast 30 to 45 minutes, and the outer edges up to about 55 minutes. We give you an honest time when you call, and the battery fit itself takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
My car stalled while I was driving. Is that the battery?
Often it is the alternator. When the alternator stops charging, the car runs off the battery alone until it goes flat, then everything shuts down. The battery light on the dash usually comes on first. We test the battery and the charging system before fitting anything, so you do not pay for a battery that cannot fix the problem.
