Train station car parks

Some people drive to a train station and catch the train to the airport or into the city for a trip. Be careful with this. Translink says park 'n' ride car parks are for use between the first and last service of the day, and a car left for days can be treated as abandoned. They aren't meant for long-term parking, and a flat battery on top of that makes a bad situation worse.

Check the battery's age. Over three years old in Queensland? Get it tested before a long trip. Our battery test is free when we come out.
Park in the shade or undercover where you have the choice.
Switch everything off. Interior lights, boot light, headlights, and unplug dash cams and chargers.
Lock the car properly so it goes into sleep mode. A car that keeps trying to talk to a key nearby can drain faster, so don't leave the spare key inside.
At home, use a battery maintainer if you're away more than a few weeks and have power in the garage.
